NEW SET, and ANOTHER MILESTONE

justin is in the garage right now shooting our NEXT TO LAST SHOT on Gerald's Last Day. it's the INTRO exterior set outside the pound.

so yesterday we said GOODBYE to the CAGE:

it was fun to tear down the CAGE, cuz putting the INTRO up felt like coming full circle, since the intro set is the first one i made and it's the first real shot justin did (except he did it in smaller frames and we've shot the rest of the film in HD, so he's reshooting it today so it'll all match up.)

it's also the set that got me into this whole crazy mess of stop motion, so i was feeling a bit nostalgic about it..........it all started innocently enough: "hey babe, could you make me some bricks out of scuply"......2 1/2 years, hundreds of bricks, four sets, tons of props, a million puppets, lots of edits, and many many lists of scheduley stuff later the course of my life has taken a whole new direction! pretty cool.

SO today our garage is full of BRICKVILLE:

GIANT WOMAN ATTACKS BRICKVILLE!

Congratulations! Your sets are a wonderous thing, Shel. The detail really fools my eye and delights at the same time because the world you make is so warm and happy.

I dig getting to see your set up with the sky backdrop as I'm trying to figure out how big to make mine right now. It helps to see what works.

Can't wait for more Stop Motion Mission Handmade Heroes productions!

Excellent miniature work. Nicely detailed and realistic without being too realistic.

thanks guys!

shelley, that's a 4' x 8' thin sheet of drywall and it was just barely big enough for our wide screen shot (when we accounted for the black bars at the top and bottom).

justin will do clouds in post.

How fun and exciting, getting close to the end! Must be refreshing to shoot on a set different than the pound. Getting excited.

I love your sky. The even lighting (uplight- good choice!), the vanishing point... It just looks like it goes on forever.

I also like how it's not too bright, so it doesn't override the foreground.

I'm looking forward to this film, man. It's going to be a treat.

By the way, Kevin Maclean just posted the first part of Ozzie the Elf on Youtube. This is a really rare Vinton show.
