Milestone- Finished first full Chapter!! 3 min 3 seconds

MILESTONE!!
Hey guys,
Having just finished the last shot at the very end of January......we were able to Celebrate with a Big 2 nights date weekend and a week Day session at the sk8park on the BMX bike..
other than a bad sprained ankle{I'll share video}.....{Sucks for Animating!!}

..it was an AWESOME time!!!!....

I am taking this week off to organize our files-garage-editing station-HEAL-
....and put together some movies for Shel to Edit.....

She is creating Dober and Flea's toolboxes for the Next sequence's-Exciting!!

Shel's also got Flea's mini ship looking amazing!! I cant wait to fly these things around!!!!! So much FUN!!!! This is an old pic -Ill let her post the process again!!The next sequence is the longest on in the film.....

it will be over 4 minuets long {probably 5 min} and will have lots of moving around and interesting problems to solve. Flea will be crawling all over his ship and that means I gota have the power drill ready for action....

Putting holes in the beautiful ships is not my favorite thing to do....

{Post production on our shots} I have been using all 2d effects for our particles so far and have been advised to create 3d particles in Maya or some 3d program....to make the world even more 3d.{This is Jason Goodman our 3D Advisor}This will take the film to another level for sure...but its not something I PLANNED on.......ha....guess I have to learn some particle systems.

Shel, Justin J and Bridget have finished painting the backup puppets!! wooo hooo!!
as for Dirk the Daring.....I have made a bunchof new faces for him
these are going to be soooo fun to animate with!!!....and Ill plan the big post for him very soon.....here's Aedons contribution to the pile..
One more week till I jump in again.....wish us luck!!

Very curious about the Dirk replacement faces… Looks like super sculpey? Are you doing press molds then re-sculpting? If so, silicone or plaster molds?

Justin, a.n.i.m.a.t.i.o.n.!! Can I please borrow some of your experience on making puppets walk?? They are totally alive and looking amazing!!

3D particles using Maya or others..?? Noo.. please dont do that. Even if you take some little pieces of cotton and make those fly around using some wire, that would be better than using 3D softwares. Just my opinion and I think you feel the same.

I love the replacement faces and the last picture with you and Shel :))

Great progress! How long is this film going to be in the end? Are you planning a 2010 release?

I'm understanding that you've got the bluescreen up for the sky, is the flat orange just a temp? (I like the color, but it's a little plain)

The entire set is covered in clay? At the end of a session under the hot lights is it easy to accidentally move the surface?

When is Gerald coming out on DVD?

(sorry, I guess I know where my son gets it, every sentence out of his mouth is a question right now :P )

Sam} thanks dood....one more year of shooting ahead...

Yaz}thanks!!.....ALIVE is the Goal....living and Breathing.

I will give it a shot.... shooting the particles in Stop mo....3d...

and Ill post on it here...when I give it a try..

JP}Thanks man! will do.

Mattson}Thanks brotha!I passed on your site to some filmaker buddies too.

Maarten}Thanks dood...nice to see ya drop in!

Alonso}Ha! The Question Monster has arrived .....Aaaaahhhhhhggghhh

ha...ha.. Naw man I love talking with you guys....animation brotherhood is strong....

and you are definitely PASSIONATE ABOUT ANIMATION!!

so...yes....

the flat orange is a temp....It is the color I'll be using though for the sky...

I always shoot in the wee house of the night.....so the clay never really gets hot enough to squish too much. I also stay off of it most of the time.

Gerald is coming out on DVD very soon!!! Shels hard at work on the editing of the special features...

we want the people who buy it to get more than just the film....but a look into the production and our experience.

cant wait to put it out there!!

Dan}Thanks man!!
