CHECK IT OUT......

Competitive festival number two....SHOW OFF YOUR SHORT, this time at home in LA and up against stiff competition (esp. in Distraxion, a slick and clever short by Mike Stern).

The festival was fun and chill, nice to hang out with Robert Litton, Gerald's Last Day's composer extraordinaire, and see so many different short films. And really FUN to win. This time the judges gave us copies of their comments on the films, which was facinating.....it's hard not to wonder what they think......and what stands out the most in their comments is that they see HEART and HIGH ANIMATION QUALITY. That's satisfying because we both have so many things we would like to improve on in GLD (cinematography, timing, lighting, puppet quality, foley, etc), but heart and animation are the two things that mean the most to us. So now off to work on figuring out how to put those other things in our next film. After seeing Coraline 4 times between us this weekend, the bar is high and we are super psyched and determined to get as close to it as possible in this lifetime--in our garage and with no budget for now at least!!

(p.s. got the Coraline collage from Coraline character designer shane prigmore's cool blog.)

I have got to see Coraline more often. Only went once, so far- don't want to overdo it, because I might wow myself to death.

Great film, though. I don't think you're that far from its quality, man.
