Milstone and {Nicky Rasch-My sons} Art Blog.

Hey guys...

not quite making the amount of footage I wanted {about 30 seconds so far} of vacation....1 very busy week left.....but I am consistently Animating.....Including tonight...

I did reach a serious Milestone in this new sequence....the line has changed shape dramatically.

I remember fantasizing like I often do.....on {whats it going to be like when I reach this point in the film?}well here I am....and its kinda like I imagined but DANG....I gots a long way to go ha!!I remember a year and a bit back.....me and Shel on our weekly mountain hike in the Griffith Park Hills....{we talk life and story's on our hikes}we reached the top of the mountain....sat down in our normal top spot .....and drew that same exact shape in the sand right between our body's. This was the genesis of the films main concept and I will always remember where it started....... literally in the Dirt at the top of that mountain.

Here is a clip of flea changing the rules a bit....

I was happy with how this one came out....especially since the battery wasn't really made for animation. I just faked it as best as I could and it worked pretty well.

...My son Nicky Rasch.....has recently started his own art blog and business.

here is Nicky's mascot.....which he will be molding and offering as a resin kit. He is sculpting, drawing , painting and doing 3D animation - Modeling for interested party's. His rates are good and I am proud of him for putting it all together to make some teenager dough and improve his portfolio.

here is an in-progress Conan statue I hired Nicky to make for me off the Frazetta painting..drop by and wish him luck!

yet again,i simply cannot believe how far you guys have got, in what seems like such a short amount of time, its a miracle you have time for blog entries let alone bmx-ing, hiking up mountains and film fests.
.
and i must say nickys sculpts are incredible, good luck to him in his new venture.

keeping an eye on the proceedings as ever

The animation is excellent! The reaction of "Dober" at the very beginning is really expressive and funny. Keep up the great work!

I love the expression on Flea and Dober's reaction. The battery pickup works great and the actual scene makes me gain more respect for Flea as the guy seems pretty clever.
Nicky's blog looks great. I wish him the best on turning his passion into a business.
Thanks again for the tips and encouragement!

looks great as usual. Hope you're having fun on your vacation and recharging, not just locked in your stuntpuppet studio all hours :)

I think I already asked you, how are you sticking the brows on?

Man I'm jealous of Nick's studio, it's like a blank canvas, so much potential for awesomeness to just explode.

I finally decided not to treat myself with clips anymore - your stuff is far beyond. Really incredible. The result of I don't know how much time you spent with animating. And careful planning. As mentioned before - this is one of the places to learn HOW to plan and finish such projects. And to learn loads about animation.

As always: all the best for every little upcoming step in finishing this film and everything !

And one word about your son's artwork, blog, company: a remarkable character which will stick in my mind. And the Conan sculpts are really grand ! All the best for him and all the people around too !!!

I am truly blown away by all the incredible work you folks have done on your film! I have been following your blog for a while now, and thought I should finally say something. I've been watching a lot of other stop mo projects and you guys really have a unique take on motion and character dynamics. You guys definitely have the makings of being stop mo legends. right up there with Aardman and the team behind Gumby. Keep up the great work!!!!

Also, I learned about your blog through the dragon stop motion website, you guys were featured there. You inspired me to use dragon for my own film. I've been making films for a long time, but I saw how you guys work and got waaaayyyy interested in trying stop motion out! if you're interested: http://lowbudgetcomedians.com/blog
and if you guys ever want help on a future film, I'm very interested!
